Métodos Matemáticos en Ciencias 2016
(GA-101)

We start with an introduction to the language of mathematics and the history behind it.  We will cover the basic concepts of linear algebra.  We will then proceed to explore the world of calculus including derivatives, integrals, and partial differential equations.  The main focus of this class is on understanding the underlying concepts of mathematics rather instead of the specific mechanics of solving certain problems.  It is assumed that you have a working knowledge of mathematics from your university classes and you are expected to review such material.  The concepts of mathematics will be described using real world problems from the literature as well as from your experiences in science and my experience as consultant for various companies.  In summary, each major concept studied in this class will consist of background information, real world applications, and assignment of homework.
